Did you know one of the most dangerous highways in Maryland might be a route you’re all too familiar with? Indian Head Highway (Route 210) is one of the deadliest roads in Prince George’s County. About 60 lives have been taken on this deathly highway over the past decade triggering local authorities and members of the community to take action.
September 18th, 2017 a meeting was held at District 7 station of the Prince George’s County Police to discuss how to protect local drivers. Police stated that 49 cars had been pulled over, prior to the meeting, within a time span of 7 hours. Drivers that are not following the speed limit are one of the speculated causes of danger on this treacherous road.
During the first six months of 2017, there were 178 accidents reported and 7 deaths that have occurred on Route 210. Police plan to be back out enforcing traffic laws on this road to encourage safety and protect drivers. While we hope that this will result in a lower accident rate, we are aware that this highway is very dangerous.
